Mr. President
was
born in Damascus,
on 11 September 1965.

he studied in
the Institute of liberty in Damascus
his primary, preparatory and
finished his secondary stages
in
1982.
He joined the Faculty of medicine in
Damascus and was graduated as a G.P
in 1988; he joined ophthalmology in
the Tishreen military Hospital in
Damascus and started his word in
medicine in 1988, he went to England
to study ophthalmology in 1992 and
came back home in 1994.
Raised to
the rank of
captain in
the management
of medical
services in
1994
Raised to
the rank
of Major,
where he
spent three
years at
that level
in 1995 and submitted
to the rank
of lieutenant corner colonel in
1997 for
his superiority at
the Joint
Chiefs of Staff and presented the
first scientific academic research in the
Syrian Arab army which
he
earned it
in
a
high degree, raised to the
rank of corner
colonel in
1999.
Dr. Bashar
chaired the
Syrian
Scientific Society for Informatics
and oversees the annual symposia and exhibitions and
encourages young people to
get acquainted with computer
science and modern
technologies.
On
11/6/2000 Promoted to the
rank of General and appointed
commander in chief of the
army and the
armed forces.
On
11/6/2000 held the
national leadership of
the Baath Arab
Socialist Party meeting in
its entirety, and
selected unanimously to
the post of President
of the
Republic.
the ninth conference of
the Baath Socialist
regional Party on Sunday,
06.18.2000 Grouped Bashar
al-Assad to the
march of the
party and
the people, elected
by the Conference Secretary-General
of the
CPC Central Committee on 06/30/2000.
Elected as a regional secretary for
the party on 24/6/2000.
At
27/6/2000 People's
Council agreed unanimously on
the proposal
of the
national leadership team Bashar
al-Assad's
nomination for
president and select
the tenth of
July 2000
as the date for
referendum.
At
11/07/2000 the
Council announced
the result
of the
referendum to
elect General Bashar
al-Assad for
Presidency
of the
Republic for a
period of seven years and the
percentage accepted
were 97.29% of
the total participants in the
referendum.
At 17/7/2000 president Bashar
Al-Assad swore the
Constitutional oath in front of the
Council to start his Constitutional
mandate.
